Dub Zap Standard Edition was the follow up to the infamous Music For CD-Player that Staalplaat released some time before. This time the 100 tracks were distributed over 2 discs so that the listener could make his own mix by playing the discs simultaneously, randomize the track order of one or both, etc.
Next to the music I also wanted to distribute the software to edit the sounds digitally. These were the early days of digital consumer music. This music was the first that I had constructed entirely inside my computer. The sounds were all taken from vinyls, cd's cassettes, radio and tv and as such the whole project was electronic.
The idea was also to present this as a cd-rom. As a softwaredistribution cd-rom with additional music/sounds/samples/loops. In accordance with that market the disc was accompanied by a EULA (which you can read in the extra material that comes with a download).
Dub Zap Pro (separately downladable) was the companion release with tracks by artists to give some examples of what is possible with the sounds suppied on these discs.
I invite everyone to come up with their own mix so we can release a new Dub Zap Pro.
I hope you will
