about

This album has a long history. It builds on a large amount of layers, both musical and poetical. In short one can regard it as a study on the use of language in all its aspects. It starts with tongue clicking, the basic sounds the mouth makes without using the vocal chord of the wind pipe. Then it meanders through sounds inside and outside, young and old, meaningfull and meaningless.

I recorded this during the period I stayed in Rotterdam. I had a small studio there with my friend Guido Doesborg who also participated in THU20 at the time. Through a high school friend I became acquainted with Dennis Cooper, then a journalist for a.o. Art Magazine and in these days a writer of (gay) cult novels and poems. Dennis recited the poems that I had written for the release of "I Could Be God" release. His voice was just what I needed and the recordings went great.

20 Years after its release Henning Lundkvist contacted me, asking for permission to do an audio show with this composition for a small audience. I consented of course and immediately set to work to remaster the original. This remaster is what you can hear here. On the occasion of this online release I have done a reworking of track 2, because in hindsight I thought it was too hissy.

This remaster was done in 2008 and 2010, adding a lot of dynamics to the original. The downloads are available in 24bit FLAC, so the quality is better than CD (let alone mp3)!!
